Catherine S. Jurgill

Catherine S. Jurgill, 84 of Wapello, Iowa and formerly of Mt. Carmel and Centralia passed away on Tuesday September 5, 2017 at Unity Point Health in Rock Island, Illinois.

Born in Ashland on February 4, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Harry and Sally (Moser) Knorr.

She attended schools in Ashland.

Catherine was a retired seamstress and a member of the ILGWU. Prior to her retirement, she worked at the former Lady Hope Factory, Kulpmont.

On December 29, 1951 in St. Ignatius Church, Centralia she married Walter M. Jurgill, Sr. who preceded her in death on April 18, 2007.

Catherine was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed gambling and was an avid baseball fan. Above all she cherished the time spent with her family.

Surviving are one son, Edward Jurgill and his wife Karen of Wapello, IA; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Jurgill of Ashland; six grandchildren Edward, Michael, Jason and Christopher Jurgill, Melissa Dillon and Chris Brown; sixteen great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband were one son Walter Jurgill, Jr. and five brothers.

Religious services will be held on Sunday evening at 7:00 pm at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel. Rev. Francis J. Karwacki will officiate. Interment will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
