Edward Joseph Wydila

MOUNT CARMEL — Edward Joseph Wydila, 95, a resident of Vintage Knolls assistant living center in Danville and formerly of 549 W. Second St., passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Kulpmont on August 31, 1922, he was a son of the late Martin and Bertha (Reppie) Wydila.

Ed was a graduate of the former Kulpmont High School.

On Sept. 27, 1952, in Mount Carmel, he married the former Dorothy Irene Herman who preceded him in death on March 5, 2016.

Mr. Wydila was a World War II Army veteran having served from November 17, 1942 until his honorable discharge on December 17, 1945. He was assigned to the 3811th Quarter Master Trucking Company.

He was a retired union pipefitter having worked on construction.

Ed was an avid hunter, fisherman, shopper and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Dorothy and their many trips to Bethany Beach.

He was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel; the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #520; the Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus Council #628 and the Kulpmont American Legion Post #231.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Tloczynski of Bloomsburg, and Cynthia Dautrich and her husband William of Atlanta; two sons, John Wydila and his wife Fran of Rockaway, New Jersey, and Dr. Michael Wydila and his wife Jane of Chadds Ford; eight grandchildren, Stephen and Jessica Tloczynski, Kayla, Michael, Sarah and Jed Wydila, and Deanna and Alyssa Dautrich; one brother, Norbert Wydila; three sisters, Cornelia Terry, Martha Sweeney and Dorothy White, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters Cecelia and Leona.

WYDILA — Edward Joseph Wydila, 95, formerly of 549 W. Second St., Mount Carmel. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Divine Redeemer Church with the Rev. Martin O. Moran, III as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Monday at the Joseph J.
