Obituary for Anna Mae Kushner
Anna Mae Kushner, 86 of 639 East Fourth Street, Mount Carmel passed away on December 22, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Mount Carmel on May 1, 1934 she was a daughter of the late John William and Anna (Swalinski) Schoppy.
Anna Mae attended Mount Carmel Catholic Schools.
Prior to her retirement she was employed at former J.C. Penny and was also as a sewing machine operator.
On February 21, 1953 in Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church in Shamokin she married Stanley Kushner who preceded her in death on November 8th, 2001.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and the Senior Action Center both of Mount Carmel. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching football and baseball. She also enjoyed cooking and fishing.
Surviving are four daughters, Virginia Ann Kushner of Jacksonville, FL, Cynthia Reynolds and her husband Terry of Milton, Delaware, Lorraine Haight of Stephens City, Virginia and Charlotte Schultz of Mount Carmel; thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph Schoppy and his wife Janet of Danville, Robert Schoppy and his wife Judy of Kulpmont, William Schoppy and his wife Ellen of Kulpmont and Ronald Schoppy of Mount Carmel; brother-in-law, Gilbert Murray of Mount Carmel; nieces, nephews and their families.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were one grandson Jason Simering; two brothers, John Schoppy and Phillip Schoppy; and two sisters, Ursula Murray and Janet Shreffler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 4th, 2020 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaverdale. A viewing will be held on Monday Morning from 9 am until 10:45 am in the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt.
