Obituary for Carol Ellen Hogan
Carol Ellen Hogan, 78 of 229 Main St., Locust Gap passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Thomas Rossi in Mount Carmel.

Born in Wilburton on August 27, 1939 she was a daughter of the late Archibald and Elizabeth (Faust) Bucher.

She was a 1957 graduate of the former Con-Cen High School where she was cheerleader and played on the basketball team.

On February 10, 1962 in the former St. Mauritius Church, Ashland she married Joseph T. Hogan who preceded her in death on January 4, 1995.

Earlier in life, Carol worked at the Fountain at Rea & Derrick’s and as a clerk in Harrisburg. Later she worked for sixteen years as a nurse’s aide and ward clerk at Mountain View Manor, Coal Township. Carol was most recently employed at Serenity Gardens Assisted Living, Kulpmont until September 2016 when she could no longer work due to illness.

She was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel and the former St. Joseph’s Church, Locust Gap. She was very active with the Mount Carmel Area High School band when her grandchildren were members, she chaperoned band trips to Florida, Canada and Virginia. Carol most enjoyed going out to dine with her family, bus trips with her sister, classic movies and chocolate.

Surviving are three daughters, Caroline Rossi and her husband Thomas of Mt. Carmel, Jolene Hogan of Mt. Carmel, Lisa (Lazarski) Awdakimow of Frackville; eight grandchildren, Michelle Rossi, Amanda Snyder and her husband Michael, Adam Lazarski, Victoria Sherman, Dyanna Lazarski, Shelby Hogan, Thomas Lazarski and Joseph Rossi; two great-grandsons, Demitri Hogan and Barrett Perniola; one sister, Marion Andrews of Owego, NY; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Theresa Conniff of Mt. Carmel, Lena Hogan of Kulpmont, Mary Ann Burkholder of Harrisburg, Alice Hogan of Lavelle, and Patrick Hogan of Kulpmont; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were one brother, Raymond Bucher and one sister, Phyllis Moser.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Divine Redeemer Church, Mt. Carmel with Rev. Martin O. Moran, III Pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Locust Gap. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel.
