Glenn Francis Timmins

June 2, 1938 — December 24, 2021

Glenn Francis Timmins, 83, of Mount Carmel, passed away on Christmas Eve after a lengthy illness.

Glenn was born on June 2, 1938 in the former Locust Mountain State Hospital, Shenandoah Heights to the late John and Lucy (Kellett) Timmins of Mahanoy City.

He was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School.

Glenn married his love, the former Roberta B. Harbachewski on November 2, 1956. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2021.

After some time in the Navy, Glenn worked in a foundry and built his own home. Discovering he had a knack for carpentry, he opened his own contracting business called Glenn's Contracting. He "retired" at age 52. He utilized this time to remodel the apartments he owned. Glenn loved to fix things and was conscious of the environment and utilized eco-friendly approaches before it was trendy, always mindful of not wasting anything. A trait he passed down to his children. He was also the former owner of Homiak’s Bar & Café, Diamondtown.

Glenn was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish where he was active in the choir. He loved music, especially bluegrass. He had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Glenn tinkered with fixing old hi-fi stereos and had an extensive record collection. Glenn collected antiques and sought to find rare pieces while predicting the later trend of what would be the next desired items. He enjoyed writing poetry and most especially discussing politics. He frequently wrote pieces to sound off, local legislators, congressman, and senators voicing his concerns for violations of the constitution, something he was passionate about.

Glenn is survived by his wife Roberta B “Robbie” Timmins; his eldest son, Michael Timmins and his wife Abby of Mt. Carmel; daughter, Robin Brzostowski and her husband Michael of Mt. Carmel; son, Glenn J. sTimmins of Mount Carmel; and daughter, Marla Timmins and her fiancé Paul Bowersox of Bloomsburg; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Timmins and his wife Phyllis; one sister, Gail Burger and her husband Jim; his brother-in-law, Carl Harbachewski and his wife Marguerite.
