Helen Hutnick

Helen Hutnick, 91, formerly of 133 N. Locust St, Mt. Carmel passed away on Friday February 3, 2023. After her beloved sister Marie passed in 2010 she continued to live at home until 2012 and then moved to the Mid-Rise in Mt. Carmel. In 2015 she moved to Our Family Homes in Aristes. She was in hospice care there for a short time before she passed.

Helen was born in Mt. Carmel on September 16, 1931 to the late Joseph and Mary (Pesarchick) Hutnick.

She graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1949.

Helen was employed as a seamstress in local garment factories until retiring in the 1990’s.

She and her sister were well known in the community and could be seen every Saturday in downtown Mt. Carmel doing their errands from the late 1950’s well into the 2000’s.

She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

Helen is survived by a special cousin, Michael Pesarchick and his wife Louise of Lititz.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Marie Hutnick on September 14, 2010.

Divine Liturgy will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 am in SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery in Mt. Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to SS Peter& Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church 131 N.
