Helen Pachuski

January 15, 1932 — November 6, 2022

Helen (Mychack) Pachuski, 90, of 105 West Saylor Street, Atlas, passed away on November 6th, 2022 at the Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Atlas on January 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Tomasz and Mary (Galic) Majczak, and the youngest of 13 children. She lived her entire life in the same home where she was born.

On June 27, 1953, in the former Mother of Consolation Church, Helen married the love of her life, who grew up in a house just down the street, the late Peter P. Pachuski. She attended Wilson School, Mount Carmel Township, and worked as a seamstress for many local factories. She was also a devoted caregiver for countless neighbors and friends, as well as for her son Paul, for whom she provided loving care for 35 years, up to the day she entered the hospital for the final leg of her journey.

Helen was a member of Divine Redeemer Church and is admirably remembered as woman of great faith. She loved to pass along Christian poems and short stories to anyone with whom she struck up a conversation. Quick to make new friends and stay connected with old ones, she’d see a familiar face and say with a smile, “I know you!” She would frequently ask for her new friends’ names to include in her prayer book. If her camera was handy, “Mrs. Kodak” would snap a picture as well. Despite her severe hearing loss, Helen also enjoyed talking on her CaptionCall telephone – but only if the calls were outside of her “soap opera hours”! She will be sadly and greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors, for whom she faithfully prayed every day.

During the last year of “Grammie’s” life, she enjoyed spending time with friends and staff in the Life Geisinger Program in Kulpmont. She eagerly anticipated the days she could share there with so many kind, friendly, and helpful people.

Helen leaves behind her two sons: Pete Pachuski and his wife Valerie of Kulpmont, and Paul Pachuski of Atlas; a daughter, Helene Boylan and her husband Jim of Shady Acres; two grandsons: Dr. Justin Pachuski and his wife Angela of Palmyra, and Jonas Pachuski of Norwalk, Connecticut; three granddaughters: Dr. Janna Zipp and her husband Brandt of New Freedom, Erin Lokhandwala, Esq., and her husband Dr. Parvez of Lutherville-Timonium, Maryland, and Jessica Pachuski of Roxborough; five great-grandsons: Lucas and Ethan Pachuski, Benjamin and Nathaniel Zipp, and Flynn Lokhandwala; three great-granddaughters: Evelyn Pachuski, Emelia and Abigail Zipp; a brother, Paul Maychack, of Vermont; two special nieces: Sandra Berkoski of Ormond Beach, Florida and Mary Ann Lynn and her husband John of Elysburg; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, father-in-law, Peter Pachuczki and his wife Bertha; a son, Raymond Pachuski; six brothers: Maximum, Theodore, Walter, Joseph, Nicholas (infant), and Lucas (infant) Mychack; five sisters: Olga Berkoski, Mildred Manley, Sophie Kaminski, Michelina Melnick, and Anna Mychack (infant).
