Obituary for James J. Devine
MOUNT CARMEL — James Devine, 69, of 340 W. Third St., passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born in Ashland, April 6, 1946, to the late James and Rita (Haffey) Devine. James was raised in Centralia. He was a 1964 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1965 to 1968. He was married to Rusty (Rusinko) Devine, who survives. James retired from the State Department of the Treasury. He was a Mount Carmel Area junior baseball league coach. He also served as a PIAA baseball, softball and basketball official. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. He was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel, and Centralia American Legion Post 608, Wilburton. In addition to his wife, James is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Hughey and her husband, Greg, of Sayre; two sons, James Devine Jr., and his wife Brittany, of Flanders, New Jersey, and Ryan Devine, of Mount Carmel; and three grandchildren, Kayla, Mason, and Sophia Hughey. DEVINE — James Devine, 69, of 340 W. Third St., Mount Carmel. A religious service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki officiating. Burial will take place in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Heart Association , 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg 17043.
