Mount Carmel – Jeannette Cole, 94, of Mount Carmel, PA, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, November 7, 2016.
Jeannette was born June 19, 1922, in Atlas, PA, a daughter of the late Rosario and Grace (Calabrese) DeFlavio.
She graduated from Mount Carmel Township High School, Locust Gap, in 1941.
On September 25, 1946, in St. Peter’s Catholic Church, she married her beloved husband, William C. Cole, a World War II veteran, who passed away on September 7, 1997.
Jeannette was a kind and caring wife, mother/mother-in-law and grandmother. But her generosity did not stop there. Her home was always open to any family member or friend who needed a helping hand. In the 1970’s, Jeannette, who was quite the fashionista in her own right, became a very successful stylist with Beeline Fashions, a company who sold apparel through a party plan method. Her greatest satisfaction, however, came from cooking for her family and friends. She made every holiday and special event memorable by preparing traditional Italian recipes handed down from past generations.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of Divine Redeemer Church and a member of the former St. Peter's Church.
Survivors include three children: a son, Charles, and his wife, Marlene, of Hummelstown, PA; a daughter, Grace, and her husband William Rarick, of Mechanicsburg, PA; a son, William, and his wife, Joan, of Kulpmont, PA and two grandchildren Andrew and Douglas; sibling Anthony DeFlavio and his wife, Hilda, of Quakertown, PA; a sister-in-law Suszanna DeFlavio of Quakertown, PA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were sisters Josephine Walsh, Constance Sulick and Frances Paradisio; brothers Flory DeFlavio and Nicholas DeFlavio; and a nephew, James DeFlavio.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9:00 am to 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St, Mt. Carmel, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 438 West Avenue, Mt. Carmel, PA. Very Rev. Martin Moran, III, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jeannette’s memory to Catholic Charities, 4800 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor, is in charge of the arrangements.
