John L. "Jack" Corbacio

September 13, 1931 — December 1, 2018

John L. “Jack” Corbacio, age 87 of 329 West Third Street passed away on Saturday morning, December 1, 2018 at the Select Specialty Hospital, Danville surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Atlas on September 13, 1931, he was a son of the late Joseph and Florence (Haffey) Corbacio.

He was a 1949 graduate of the former Mt. Carmel Township High School and the Geisinger X-Ray School.

Jack was a US Air Force Veteran having served his country from 1951 until 1955.

On September 19, 1959 in the former St. Peter’s Church in Mt. Carmel, he married the former Mary Lou Greco who survives.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an X-Ray technician for over thirty five years at Selinsgrove Center and prior to that, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Reading.

Jack was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mt. Carmel and the former St. Peter’s Church. He was also a former Mt. Carmel Township School Board Director and former Mount Carmel Borough Health Officer.

He was an avid New York Yankees and Notre Dame fan. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou Corbacio are three sons John Corbacio of Pottsville, Michael Corbacio and his wife Denise of Shamokin Dam Edward Corbacio and his wife Paula of Sinking Springs; seven grandchildren, Jonathon, Brittany and her husband Ronald, Hannah, Michael, Marcus, Cianna and Mia; one sister, Catherine Allen and her husband Robert of Hollidaysburg; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Corbacio of Harrisburg and Katie Corbacio of Helfenstein; nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Robert and Albert Corbacio and one sister, Mary Scicchitano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 10:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mt. Carmel with the Rev. Ryan Fischer, Pastor as the celebrant. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. There will be no viewing on Monday morning, everyone is invited to meet at the church for the mass.
