Obituary for Joseph McCoy
Joseph “Joe” McCoy, 66 of Mt. Carmel passed away Monday afternoon, March 13, 2017 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Joseph was born February 13, 1951 to the late Joseph A. McCoy and the late Marcella (Dillman) McCoy of Ashland.
Joe was a 1969 graduate of North Schuylkill High School.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1975.
Joe was married on March 7, 1977 to Mary Ann (Honecker) McCoy who preceded him in death on September 7, 2015.
Joe had been employed as a Foundry Supervisor for Gould’s Pump in Ashland until his retirement.
Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, the Anthracite Steam Fire Company, the Clover Hose Fire Company and the Lithuanian Social Club all of Mt. Carmel. He also was a member of the Locust Gap and Atlas Fire Companies.
Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Joe “The Real McCoy” was very proud of his Irish heritage and loved St. Patrick’s Day and now once again he can spend it with his wife Mary Ann.
Joe will always love and be proud of his son Matthew.
Joe is survived by his son, Matthew McCoy at home; two sisters, Marci (McCoy) Eye and her husband David of Aristes, Candi McCoy of Ashland; one brother Scott McCoy and his wife Lisa of Ashland; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Wagner and her husband Jim and Kathleen Honecker all of Mt. Carmel; nephews, David and Jeremy Eye, Scotty McCoy, William Anderson and his son Bill; nieces, Jennifer Eye, Destinee Bebout, Kate Anderson and her son Kaleb. Joe had many cousins and friends and of course his dog, Jack.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday March 20, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township. A Viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday from 8:45-9:45 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor.
