Julie Ann Nevick

April 6, 1959 — October 4, 2021

On October 4, 2021, Julie Ann Nevick (née Sassani) passed away in her home in Mount Carmel.

Julie was born in Philadelphia on April 6, 1959 and was the daughter of Eileen Marie Sassani (née Morrissey) who survives and the late Anthony Francis Sassani.

She graduated from Mount Carmel Area Senior High School in 1977 and proudly served in the Army where she was a medic from 1979 to 1983. More recently, she was a Psychiatric Aide at Danville State Hospital where she provided loving care to her patients for more than 10 years. Prior to her employment at Danville State Hospital, Julie was a Home Health Aide for Northumberland County where she cared for older adults and people with disabilities.

Julie was a faithful person and an active member of Divine Redeemer church.

Both personally and professionally, Julie was devoted to caring for others. She was an incredibly compassionate, loving person who, despite her own challenges, was able to offer hope to the hopeless. Julie’s love and compassion extended beyond humans as she supported several animal welfare organizations and took in “strays” (animal and human alike) her whole life. Julie was also artistic and creative and enjoyed crafting and photography in her free time. She also made the world’s best Brandy Alexanders and knew how to throw a great party.

Julie is survived by her mother, Eileen Sassani; her husband, Jerome Nevick; her daughter, Shannon Mace and son-in-law, James Henry of Newport, Rhode Island; and sister, Kathleen Blase of Kulpmont. She is also survived by her stepson, Doug Nevick, his wife, Cheka Nevick, and their daughter, Olivia of Bethlehem; and stepdaughter, Samantha Nevick, her significant other, Richard Zigner, and their children, Riley, Aiden, Amelia, and Savannah of Mount Carmel. Julie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends and family all of whom she loved and adored.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Anthony Sassani, grandparents, Carlo and Josephine Sassani and William and Julie Morrissey, and brother-in-law, Joseph Blase.

The family would like to thank everyone who offered Julie love and support throughout her illness, including a special thank you to Rose Jackson, Dianne Frank, Cathy Pizzoli and Heather Frank.
