Obituary for Kathleen Kelser
Kathleen Kelser, 91, of Locust Gap, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021 at the Mount Carmel Nursing Rehab Center.
Born Jan. 28, 1930, in Locust Gap, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Mary (Cain) O’Neill.
She was a 1948 graduate of Catholic High School in Mt. Carmel.
She was married on Nov. 24, 1955 in St. Joseph’s church in Locust Gap to Leo Kelser who preceded her in death.
She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years, retiring in 1995 as Postmaster for Marion Heights. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel church.
Surviving are her three children, Leo Kelser (Susan) of Summit, NJ; Joan Handerhan of Enola, PA; and Patricia Kiefaber (George) of Coal Township. Her grandchildren include Matthew (Chun), Jared (Lisa), Alex, Ben, Christopher (Astrid), Andrew, Ryan, and Kayla. Also newly born great granddaughter Annie. Her step-grandchildren include Lindsay, Josh, Tim, Stephanie and Taylor. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Pahl (Jeff who survives), her sisters, Sister Mary Germanus, IHM; Elizabeth “Betty” O’Neill; Stella Hollis; Agnes “Theresa” Bucanelli; Anne “Nancy” O’Neill; and Patricia “Ellen” Wydra. Also, her brothers, Robert “Emmett” O’Neill; Hugh O’Neill; and John “Jack” O’Neill. She had two additional siblings that passed away in childhood James and Joseph. In addition, she was preceded in death by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and two nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 18, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s cemetery Locust Gap. A viewing will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. The family encourages mask wearing for the viewing and funeral. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to Our Lady of Mt.
