Lucy Catherine Smith

Lucy Catherine Smith, 99 of Mt. Carmel passed away on Saturday, February 12,2022 at the Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Marion Heights on December 13,1922, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary (Bressi) Mirarchi.

She attended Mt. Carmel schools.

Lucy was married in Baltimore at the Saint Rosa of Lima Catholic Church on July 13,1946 to John Smith who preceded her in death on March 10, 1984.

She was a retired garment factory worker.

Lucy was a member of Divine Redeemer Church and a former member of St. Peter’s Church in Mt. Carmel. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She enjoyed her may trips to Atlantic City casinos, her most recent in December 2021.

Surviving is one daughter, Barbara Hartley of Middletown, DE; four grandchildren, Thomas Bogovich and his wife Kristy Bogovich of Kulpmont and Jeffrey Bogovich of Kulpmont and William Hartley and his wife Crystal of DE and Christopher Hartley and his wife Erin of MD; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren and Brynna Bogovich, Collyn Cloe and Claire Hartley, Michael and Lucas Hartley and Emily Baker; and one great-great-grandson Case Hartley; four sisters, Catherine Saukaitis, Stella Veach, Ellie Barni and Angie Gaffney; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Bogovich and son-in-law Thomas Bogovich; one brother, Joseph Mirarchi; and three sisters, Carrie Barella, Virginia Barilla and Rosaline Palovick.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:30 am in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap with the Rev. Ryan Fischer officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor.
