Obituary for Luke Skip Lapotsky
Luke “Skip” Lapotsky, 85 of 360 Spruce Street, Kulpmont passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born at the former Ashland State Hospital on March 6, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Cheppa) Lapotsky.
He was a graduate of the former Con-Cen High School.
Luke was married at Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Centralia on October 7, 1961 to Marie C. (Mekosh) Lapotsky who preceded him in death on February 24, 1995.
He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Centralia.
Luke had worked for many years in coal sales and delivery before his retirement.
He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, he liked to polka, attend block parties and never missed a Ukrainian Day Picnic in Primrose. He also enjoyed going to the beach with his grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Anita LeClaire of Chester Springs and Debra Burd of Kulpmont; three sons, Robert Lapotsky of Kulpmont, Luke J. Lapotsky, Jr. and his wife Trish of Lavelle and Christopher Lapotsky of Coal Township; ten grandchildren, Cassandra, Matthew, Jacob, Tiffany, Haley, Katianna, Olivia, Krystof, Jada and Nastissja; numerous nieces, nephews and his dog Fred.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 am in Assumption BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church in Centralia with the Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to Assumption BVM Church 131 North Beech St. Mt.
