Obituary for Mark D. Gondal
Mark D. Gondal, 71 of 130 North Hickory Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Monday night, May 4, 2020 at his residence.
Born in Ashland on January 27, 1949 he was a son of the late Ernest and Mary (Mekulski) Gondal.
He was a 1967 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Mark served his country in the Army and received the M-14 Rifle Badge.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as security guard for Intrepid Detective Agency.
On March 26, 1977 in the former Saint Joseph’s Church in Shamokin he married the former Linda Reed who survives.
Mark was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel, the Kulpmont American Legion Post 231 and the Kulpmont VFW. He was an avid fan of the Mount Carmel Red Tornadoes, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Indianapolis Colts.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years, Linda Gondal are one sister, Madelyn Slaymaker of Perry Hall, Maryland; one brother, Wayne Gondal of Manheim; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken and Doris Drumheller of Paxinos, Earl Reed of Trevorton, Kenny and Donna Reed of Silverdale, Washington, Ron and Rebecca Wright of Mount Carmel, David and Dixie Reed of Coal Township, and Rick and Kathy Redd of Locust Gap.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Radziewicz and Linda Reed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel with interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to charity on one’s choice. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor has been entrusted with the arrangements.
