Obituary for Mary Alice "Queenie" Shields
Mary Alice “Queenie” Shields, 78 formerly of Shamokin and a resident of the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.
Born at the former Ashland State Hospital on July 24, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Laura A. (Clews) Kline.
She was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
Queenie was a retired seamstress having worked in the local garment industry.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, the Centralia Fire Company and the ILGWU. She also enjoyed crafting.
Surviving are her sister, Patricia “Tiny” Kline of Mt. Carmel; and nieces, Kim Reed and her husband Scott of Coal Township, Donna Fisher and her husband Scott of Coal Township and Amanda Kemble and her husband Eric of Williamstown; and great nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her sister, Janet Persing in 2000.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. A viewing will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am in the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt.
