Obituary for Mary Ann Atchley
MOUNT CARMEL — Mary Ann Atchley, 66, 249 S. Beech St., passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Ashland, July 6, 1949, to the late Melvin L and Joyce (Denton) Evans. Mary Ann was a 1967 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. She was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1967 to 1970. She attained the rank sergeant E-5. Mary Ann worked as a supervisor in the Northumberland County Purchasing Office before her retirement. She was a member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a life member of the Kulpmont American Legion, and a member of the Anthracite Fire Company. She enjoyed cooking for family gatherings, going to bingo and Knoebels Amusement Resort. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with her great-granddaughter, Jazlyn. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Slotterback and her husband, David, of Mount Carmel; two granddaughters, Janine and Mary Fegley; a great-granddaughter, Jazlyn Marcella; a sister, Barbara Dugan and her husband, Thomas, of Mount Carmel; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin T. Evans. ATCHLEY — Mary Ann Atchley, 66, 249 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Services will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as celebrant. Burial will take place at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday, at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel 17851
