Michael Paul Waraksa

Michael Paul Waraksa, 71 of 1014 East Race Street, Coal Township passed away peacefully early Monday morning, September 17, 2018 at his home following a long illness.

Born in Danville on August 1, 1947 he was the son of the late Paul Michael and Ann (Szymanski) Waraksa.

He graduated from William Paterson College, Paterson, NJ having earned a BS degree in Biology. He then obtained a Master’s degree in Biology from Bloomsburg University.
Michael was previously employed at Hummel Chemical and Inmont Corporation as a chemist.

He was also a teacher and prior to his retirement worked for Geiser Guns and in sporting goods.

On April 29, 1972 in Rochelle Park, NJ he married the former Susan Calao who survives.
Michael attended the Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Shamokin and was a member of the Valley Gun and Country Club, the Keystone Fish and Game Club, the Zerbe Township Rod and Gun Club and the Kramer Gun Club.

He loved his family and telling jokes. His passion was history and guns. Michael enjoyed shooting and teaching others gun safety and how to hunt.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 46 years, Susan Waraksa are two daughters, Stephanie Achenbach and her husband Adam of Easton and Cheryl Wallace and her Husband John of Beavertown; three sons, Jeremy Waraksa and his wife Sarah of York, Robert Waraksa of Washington, D.C. and Michael Waraksa and his wife Ashley of Shamokin; six grandchildren, Tayla, David, Aaron, Abriella, Nadine and Zachary; two sisters, Mary Zanetakos and her husband Jimmy of Lincoln Park, NJ and Pat Erlanger and her husband Tom of Armonk, NY; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Religious services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 25 South Second Street, Shamokin. Pastor Fred Madara will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday afternoon at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
