Obituary for Robert E. Shawda
MOUNT CARMEL — Robert E. Shawda, 94, of 111 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, in his home. Born on April 13, 1921 in Allentown, he was a son of the late Floyd and Lillian (Brocious) Shawda. Robert was a 1939 graduate of Shamokin High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as an aviation metalsmith, first class. On April 12, 1947, in Shamokin, he married Helen (Scovern) Shawda. Robert was of the protestant faith. He was a member of Rescue Fire Company in Shamokin, and a member of the Six County Firemen's Association. In addition to his wife, Robert is also survived by one grandson, Jeffrey Hughes, of Mechanicsburg; two great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Shawda, and a brother, Floyd Shawda. SHAWDA — Robert E. Shawda, 95, of 111 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel. Service were private. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel. Joseph J. Stutz, III, supervisor, had charge of arrangements.
