Obituary for Theresa C. McDonnell
Theresa C. McDonnell, 89 of 920 Stratford Court, State College formerly of Mount Carmel passed away on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2022 at Embassy of Hearthside Nursing & Rehabilitation, State College.
Born in Maizeville on June 9, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Mallick) Welikonich.
She was a 1951 graduate of the former Gilberton High School.
On October 13, 1962 in St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Maizeville, she married John J. “Jack” McDonnell, Jr. who survives.
Theresa was a devout member of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mount Carmel and the Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
She had great faith and was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and traditions. Above all, Theresa was a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother and treasured the time spent with her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband of almost sixty years, John J. “Jack” McDonnell, Jr. are her son, Mark J. McDonnell and his wife Diane of Williston, Vermont; her daughter, Elaine T. McDonnell of State College; her grandson, Ryan McDonnell of San Leandro, California; nieces, nephews and their families.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Divine Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mount Carmel. The Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a Panachyda service at 10:15 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mount Carmel, 131 North Beech Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
