Obituary for Virginia M. Gard
Virginia M. “Jeannie” Gard, 80 of Mt. Carmel passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.
Born in Mount Carmel on June 22, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Albino and Elda (Dalpiaz) Fantini.
She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Earlier, Jeannie was employed at the former Smart Shop and Beverly’s Flower Shop both of Mt. Carmel and the Mount Carmel Nursing Home.
She was a member of the former St. Peter’s Church, and now Divine Redeemer Church, Mt. Carmel.
In her younger years, Jeannie enjoyed helping the Veterans at the VFW in Mt. Carmel. She also enjoyed socializing with neighbors and friends in town. Most special to her was the she time spent with her family, her sons, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and sisters and their families.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph D. Gard and his wife Mira of Harrisburg and James J. Gard and his wife Tina of Deerfield Beach, Florida; five grandchildren, Keith Gard and his wife Lauren of Camp Hill, Allyson Quinn and her husband Brian of Tampa, Florida, Marissa Beyer and her husband Ben of Fort Myers, Florida, Erica Gard of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Mario Gard of Deerfield Beach, Florida; one great-granddaughter, Vanessa Beyer; two sisters, Charlotte Enriquez of Elysburg and Camille Bressi and her husband Albert of Kulpmont; nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Funeral services will be held and announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in Virginia’s memory to the Mount Carmel Public Library, 30 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
