Andrew T. Panko, Jr., 83 of 221 Middle Road, Catawissa passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Ashland on September 18, 1942, he was a son of the late Andrew T. Panko Sr. and the late Ella (Chernitsky) Panko.

He was a 1961 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

Mr. Panko was a decorated US Army veteran having served his country from 1964 until 1966.

On September 26, 1970 in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Centralia, he married the former Joanne Mushalko who survives.

Andrew was a self-employed contractor owning and operating Panko Contracting, a well-known business that served the local area for many years.

He was a devout member of Assumption BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Centralia, and was also a member of the Valley Gun and Country Club, Elysburg.

Andy appreciated the outdoors, especially when he was gardening or tending to his lawn. He also enjoyed salmon fishing in Pulaski, New York, with his family and friends, a tradition he long-awaited and held annually for forty years. Above all else, he treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who learned invaluable “life lessons” from their experiences with him.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-five years, Joanne Panko are his son, Andrew Panko; two daughters, Andrea Boyer and her husband Markus and Maria Rizzo and her husband Phil; three grandchildren, Lauren Boyer, Kianna Rizzo and Zachary Gee; one sister, Anna Horvath; one brother, Mike Panko; and nieces and nephews with their families.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brother, John Panko and his sister, Helen Powell.

Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 am in Assumption BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Centralia with Rev. Paul Spotts, Pastor officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Assumption BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, c/o 131 North Beech Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
