Obituary

Barbara Ann Komorek, 81, passed away on January 11, 2026, at Sunbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided since 2022.

Born on December 23, 1944, Barbara was the daughter of the late Ann Elczyna Gola and the late Andrew McDermott. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Tom Gola, who was an important part of her life. Barbara was born and raised in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, a place that would always remain an important part of her story.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benjamin Komorek Jr. and her son, Benjamin Komorek III. Following the passing of her husband in 2010, Barbara made her home in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, with her daughter and family, where she was surrounded by those she loved most until moving to Sunbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Kristen Ann Komorek Snyder; her son-in-law, Brian Snyder; and the light of her life, her grandson, Evan Snyder.

Barbara had a wonderful way of finding joy in the little things. She loved crafts and could spend countless happy hours working on her dollhouses. She also loved the thrill of finding a treasure at a garage sale, yard sale, or flea market. And anyone who knew Barbara knew just how much she loved thrift hunting—there was always something interesting to discover and something old that just might need to come home with her! She also enjoyed home shopping buying lots of new items!

But as much as Barbara enjoyed her hobbies, nothing compared to the love she had for her family. Her family was truly the center of her world. She treasured the time she spent with Kristen, Brian, and especially her grandson, Evan. Being Evan’s Nana brought her tremendous happiness and pride, and the bond they shared was incredibly special to her.

Barbara’s life was made up of countless ordinary moments that became treasured memories—the conversations, the laughter, the shopping trips, the little projects, and simply being together. Those are the memories her family will hold onto most.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sunbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Residential Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided to Barbara.

Barbara will be deeply missed, but the love she gave her family does not end with her passing. It lives on in the memories, traditions, stories, and countless little reminders of her that will remain with them always.

A special farewell from Kristen, Brian, and Evan:

Mom and Nana, there are no words that can truly say how much you meant to us or how much we will miss you. Thank you for the love you gave us, the memories we made together, and all the little moments that we will now treasure even more.

Our lives will never be quite the same without you, but we know that a part of you will always be with us. We will think of you in the things you loved, smile when we remember the funny moments, and carry your love with us wherever life takes us.

You were our mom, our mother-in-law, our Nana, and an irreplaceable part of our family. We were blessed to have you, and we will love and miss you more than words can say.

Until we meet again, you will always be in our hearts.

With all our love,

Kristen, Brian & Evan
