Bernard J. Wolkoski Jr.

Bernard J. “Bernie” Wolkoski Jr., 88 of Mount Carmel passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning, January 6, 2024 in his daughter’s home in Elysburg.

Born in Mount Carmel on December 3, 1935, he was the son of the late Bernard J. Wolkoski, Sr. and the late Stella (Gardocki) Wolkoski.

Bernie was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

Mr. Wolkoski was a decorated US Army Veteran.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by Arcos Industries, Mount Carmel Township.

In 1980 at the former Saint Joseph Church in Mount Carmel, he married the former Rose Marie (Dembowski) Larkin who preceded him in death on April 18, 2004.

Bernie was a member of the former St. Joseph Church and was currently a member of Divine Redeemer Parish, Mount Carmel.  He was a firefighter and a life member of the Clover Hose Company, Mount Carmel.

Bernie enjoyed hunting especially with his son, Barry.  He also was an avid photographer and was always ready to snap a picture.  But above all else, “Pop” and “Pop Pop” was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents and his wife were his baby daughter, Rebecca in 1980 and his brother-in-law, Thomas Schott.

Surviving are two sons, John J. Larkin III of Bloomsburg and Barry P. Larkin and his wife Cherise of Florida; one daughter, Beth A. Else and her husband Bryan of Elysburg; seven grandchildren, John and Eric Larkin, Dominique and Dante Larkin and David, Stacey and Kaitlyn Else; seven great-grandchildren, Dominic, Lilly, Aaliyah, Layla, Paisley, Axle, and Grayson; one sister, Eleanor Schott; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township.  Deacon Walter J. Kozlowski will officiate.  There will be no viewing or services from the funeral home.  Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J.
