Carolyn Rose "Carol" Schu

Carolyn Rose “Carol” Schu, 78 of Mount Carmel, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 30, 2023 at Grandview Nursing & Rehabilitation, Danville.

Born at the former Ashland State Hospital on December 22, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Joseph “Slippy” and Stella (Rovinsky) Sacavage.

She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School Class of 1962 and Empire Beauty School, Pottsville.

Carolyn was a licensed beautician.

On December 5, 1970 she married Robert P. Schu who preceded her in death on February 12, 1986.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and the former Holy Cross Church, Mount Carmel.

Carolyn was devoted to her family. She never missed any sporting events that her children participated in. “Grammy Carol” also loved attending all of her grandchildren’s school and sporting events as well.

Surviving are four sons, Michael Schu of Mount Carmel, William Schu of Mount Carmel, Robert “Booper” Schu Jr. and his wife Rachael of Danville and Christopher Schu and his wife Rebecca of Aristes; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanne McGinley and her husband William of Bloomsburg; sister-in-law, Sandra Rusnak and her husband Thomas of Mount Carmel; brother-in-law, Thomas Schu and his wife Sheila of Shunk; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel with the Very Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A viewing will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
