Christopher M. Slodysko

Christopher M. Slodysko, age 41 of Mount Carmel passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 7, 2016.

Born in Shamokin on April 16, 1975, he was a son of the late Gregory Slodysko and Linda L. (Edmunds) Slodysko who survives.

Chris was a 1993 graduate of Shamokin Area High School and attended Penn State and Bloomsburg Universities.

For the past 12 years, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections at SCI-Camp Hill, SCI-Mahanoy and currently at SCI-Frackville.

On September 6, 2003 on Heart Island, Alexandria Bay, New York he married the former Jennifer L. Yucha who survives.

Chris was a member of the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel. He was a life member and an active firefighter of the Friendship Fire and Hose Co. #1, Shamokin where he served as a past lieutenant as well as held the company offices as financial secretary and trustee. He was also a member of the Anthracite Steam Fire Company, Mount Carmel and was a volunteer for many years at the Elysburg Haunted House. He was a former member of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers Local (IBEW) Union 607, Shamokin.

Above all Chris was a loving and devoted husband, father and son. He treasured the time spent with his family, especially the activities and sporting events of his children. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Chris would help anyone, even if they did not ask for it.

Surviving in addition to his mother and his wife of thirteen years are twin sons, Gabriel M. “Gabe” and Jarred C. Slodysko both at home; one daughter, Delaney M. Slodysko at home; three brothers, Gregory C. Slodysko and his wife Geriann of Hughestown, Brian P. Slodysko and his wife Carollee of Watsontown and Scott J. Slodysko and his wife Debbie of Ashland; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Kathy Yucha of Marion Heights; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel. Rev. Edmund Brennan will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaverdale.

A public viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel. There will be no public viewing or services from the funeral home on Wednesday morning; all are invited to the mass.
