David Michael Sassani, 69 of Gowen City, East Cameron Township passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his residence.
Born in Harrisburg on February 8, 1953, he was a son of Marie Elva (Posipanko) Sassani of Steelton who survives and the late Michael Francis Sassani.
He attended Steelton-Highspire Area High School.
Early in life, David worked in his father’s business, the former Mike’s Shoe Repair in Steelton as a shoe repairman, a trade he learned from his dad. Prior to his retirement and for the majority of his working life, he was employed as a steel worker at TRW, Inc., Harrisburg. Even after retirement, he kept busy working as an auctioneer for Ray Moncavage Auctions, Mount Carmel and as a salesman for Wolfe’s VW, Harrisburg.
David was a member of the Mount Carmel Knights of Columbus Bishop Lawrence F. Schott Council 628, the Lithuanian Social Club, Mount Carmel and the East Cameron Township Fire Company. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and sportsman. His heart was in the woods and he felt most at home there; he awaited hunting season every year with great excitement. Fishing also provided him great times with his family and friends over the years. He was a skilled pool shooter having been a past captain in the local APA League. David loved cooking for his family and friends and also for area social clubs and civic organizations. His skill in the kitchen and eagerness to do so made many happy, holiday dinner tables and picnics and benefited many local associations throughout the years. Above all, the time he spent with his family was what he treasured most. The good times and happy memories will long be remembered and never forgotten especially the more recent ones with his cherished granddaughters.
Preceding him in death in addition to his father was his sister-in-law, Dona Sassani.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his two sons, Michael John Sassani of Elizabethtown and Daniel Steven Sassani and his wife Angela Irene of Elizabethtown, two granddaughters, Brianna Kaitlyn Sassani and Jade Elizabeth Sassani; three sisters, Lisa Sassani of Harrisburg, Diane Sassani of Steelton, Louise Steck and her husband Scott of Mechanicsburg; one brother, Stephen Sassani of Steelton; his fiancé, Dianna Higginbotham of Atlas; cousin, Larry Joyce and his wife Sue of Mount Carmel; nieces, nephews with their families and additional cousins.
Religious services will be private at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki officiating.
