Dawn C. Baurys, 88 of 30 South Main Street, Aristes passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Aristes on November 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late George E. Raker, Jr. and the late Alma G. (Kostenbauder) Raker.
She was a 1950 graduate of the former Conyngham-Centralia Joint High School (Con-Cen), Aristes. She also graduated from the Geisinger School of Nursing and successfully passed the state nursing boards becoming a registered nurse (RN) in 1955.
Earlier in life, Dawn worked as a Registered Nurse at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She then devoted her time to her family and raising her children. She also owned and operated the former Dawn Baury’s Ceramics, Aristes for many years; she truly enjoyed the time spent with the people that visited her shop.
On November 24, 1955 in the United Methodist Church, Aristes she married, George H. Baurys who preceded her in death on October 11, 2015.
She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Aristes and The Order of the Eastern Star, Sunbury.
Surviving are two sons, Mark G. Baurys and his wife Sherry of Lattimer Mines and Karl J. Baurys and his wife Vicki Bissonette Baurys of Aristes; three grandchildren, Lonnie, Leah & Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Ariah; nieces, nephews and their families and many friends.
Funeral services will be private and interment in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Numidia at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in Dawn’s name to the church or charity of one’s choice.
