Dolores “Lorry” Marie Popkowski, 90 of Wilburton passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at the Mt. Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on December 3, 1934 in Kulpmont, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Mary (Swetra) Tamecki.
She was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
Dolores was married on September 21, 1964 at St. Suzanne’s Church in Detroit, Michigan to Matthew Popkowki, Jr. who preceded her in death on April 27, 2017.
She retired after being employed for over twenty years as a payroll manager and bookkeeper.
Dolores was a member of Divine Redeemer Church and a member of the former Our Mother of Consolation Church.
She enjoyed cooking and making her favorite Polish dishes.
Surviving are one daughter, Kim Mary Peffer of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Brianna Peffer and her husband Nicholas Ward, Zachary Peffer and his fiancé Rebecca; two great-grandchildren, Owen Ward and Nicholas Ward; one great-grandchild on the way; one sister, Jean Kashmere of Mt. Carmel; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Tamecki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, Mt. Carmel with the Rev. Bernard Wamayose, A.J. as the celebrant. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
