Dorothy T. Simmons, 83 of Atlas died peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness early Saturday morning, April 7, 2018.
She was born on August 23, 1934, the daughter of the late Bertha (Kashmir) and David Shuda. She was next to the youngest of seven daughters, the next to youngest of nine children and the last survivor of her immediate family.
She attended Our Lady's grade school and Mount Carmel Catholic High School.
She was employed at the Shamokin State General Hospital and later the Shamokin Area Community Hospital until her retirement in 1997.
Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and also a member of the Atlas Hose Company.
In Our Lady of Mount Carmel rectory, Mount Carmel, she married the late Robert T. Klingerman, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Albert Simmons, Jr. in 1981, who preceded her in death in 2003.
She was grateful for the good things in her life, most especially the love of her family, and lived a life committed to her family above all else. She enjoyed the many ongoing family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking for all the many family occasions and was known as the official birthday cake baker for family members' birthday parties. She loved to sing and dance.
Her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren, are so blessed to have had this beautiful person in their lives. Life without her being there will be difficult for all. She will be missed every single day of the remainder of all of our lives. It is difficult to imagine life without her.
She is survived by three daughters and one son, Theresa Kornaski and her husband Vic of Mt. Carmel; Ann Klingerman of Mt. Carmel; Patricia Casey and her husband Daniel of Aristes; Robert T. Klingerman, Jr. of Elysburg; grandchildren, Krisa Tobias and her husband Darve; Jennifer Grayson and her husband Chris; Victor Kornaski and his wife Laurie; Melissa Klischer and Charlie Klischer; Nicholas Klingerman and his wife Keri; Mallory Klingerman and Lucas Klingerman; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Capozello, Cole Kornaski, Hunter Klinger, and Brandon Shustack and her two little buddies, Haley and Jovee Gilroy. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy T. Lindenmuth in 2012; six sisters and two brothers.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
