Dr. Dwight R. Davis, DDS, 74 of 88 Black Creek Road, Ashland passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 in his home.
Born in Winchester, TN on October 9, 1950, he was the son of the late Albert Joseph and Anna Jean (Wright) Davis.
He was a 1968 graduate of Terrebonne High School, Houma, LA. He earned his BS degree from Louisiana State University in 1972. In 1976, he graduated from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.
Dr. Davis practiced dentistry in his Mount Carmel office for over 49 years and was a compassionate dentist who treated every patient like family.
Additionally, he was a dedicated member of the community, serving as a founding board member of the Ronald McDonald House in Hershey, PA, where his commitment helped establish a vital resource for families in need. He also held memberships in various professional organizations, including the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Pennsylvania Dental Association.
He was a member of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, where he also served as a lector and Eucharist minister.
Dwight's involvement with the Boy Scouts of America significantly shaped his life. His dedication was evident early on, as he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at 16. This commitment continued into adulthood; he enjoyed attending numerous campouts with his sons and watching them participate in scouting and eventually all three also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He also volunteered as both a scoutmaster and committee chair for Pack/Troop 780 of Gordon. He attained the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow and participated in various national and world jamborees, both as a participant and a staff member.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of almost fifty-four years, Mary Robichaux Davis, are three sons, Albert (Petra), D. Thomas and Jefferson (Mylah); cherished grandchildren, Sophia, Abby, Alexander and Isabel Davis, and Pippa Richards.
He also leaves behind his brother, Francis Davis (Keren), his brother, Claude Davis, his sister Deborah Perkins (Fred), his sister-in-law Charlene Landry, and his nephews and nieces: Jill (Reese), Lydia (Tommy), Ronald (Paula), Christian (Ellen), Justin (Kristine), Troy (Kristine), Tyler (Katie), Jennifer, Sarah (Devon), Lillian, and Claire.
Dwight was an avid outdoorsman and found solace and joy fishing and hunting with his good friends, Dr. Vincent Dauchess and Dr. Bill Lewis. As a former trombone player in the LSU marching band, he loved following the LSU Tigers and always enjoyed the annual Super Bowl Parties with his friend Steve Tadeo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mt. Carmel with the Very Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mauritius Cemetery, Ashland. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt.
