Edward A. Schetroma Jr., DMD, 70 of 414 West Pine Street, Shamokin passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Sunbury on August 11, 1956, he was a son of the late Edward A. Schetroma Sr. and Louise (Gurski) Schetroma.
He was a 1974 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School. He continued his education at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, graduating in 1978. In 1984, he earned his DMD degree from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia.
Earlier in life, he practiced dentistry at the Tri-Town Jaycee Medical Center in Williamstown. Dr. Schetroma later owned and operated his own private dental practice in Shamokin for many years. He eventually retired from SCI Coal Township.
On October 13, 1984 in the former Saint Ignatius Church, Centralia, he married the former Ann Marie Capparell who survives.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, the Kulpmont Sportsmen Association, the West End Fire Company, Shamokin and the Mount Carmel Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 464.
Ed had a deep love for music and enjoyed his large collection of albums and CDs. He was also an avid collector of many different items, with interests ranging from Hot Wheels cars and Hallmark ornaments to a wide variety of other unique treasures. He especially enjoyed attending auctions and spending time browsing thrift stores and flea markets, always looking for new discoveries.
Ed loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing with his wife and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his pets, particularly his beloved dogs.
Surviving in addition to his wife of almost forty-two years, Ann Marie Schetroma are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rosita Klimas, John and Mary Todor, Randy and Jean Lettich, Bill Lindenmuth, and Earl and Sharon Miller; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Rev. Monsignor Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Thursday morning from 8:45 am until 10:15 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor.
