Francis X. "Berg" Bergan, Jr.

Francis X. “Berg” Bergan, Jr., 65, of 29 South Locust Street, Mt. Carmel, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Born on November 20, 1960, at the former Shamokin State Hospital, he is the son of Francis X. Bergan, Sr. who survives and the late Jeanette “Jean” (Bogovich) Bergan.

He was a 1978 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Coal Township.

Berg had been employed for forty-three years in the IT department for the Conair Corporation in Bloomsburg.

On June 10, 2014, in Las Vegas, NV, he married Donna (Megosh) Bergan who survives.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #628, West End Athletic Club where he served as a trustee, Centralia Fire Company, Clover Hose Fire Company, Lithuanian Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 464, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2110 and the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Girardville.

Berg was an avid sports fan to say the least. His favorite teams were Notre Dame, the New York Mets and the Minnesota Vikings.

In addition to his wife and father he is survived by a stepson, Kevin Powell and his wife Jillian and a step-grandson, Jacob all of Mt Carmel; aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 11:30 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Very Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:00 am until 11:15 am. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt.
