Gloria A. Susnoski

Gloria A. Susnoski, 87 of 2 Lamplight Acres, Kulpmont passed away on Tuesday night, August 29, 2023 at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.


Born in Shamokin on October 2, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Baksi) Stankiewicz.


She was a 1949 graduate of the former Saint Anthony’s Grade School, Coal Township and a 1953 graduate of the former Coal Township High School. She then graduated from Empire Beauty School.


Gloria was a licensed beautician for over fifty years operating a beauty shop in her home for forty-five years. In her early life, she was employed by the former Lady Hope Dress Factory, Kulpmont. Also, she was employed part-time as a bartender for Mattucci’s Willow Café, Mount Carmel for twenty-nine years.


She was a member of Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont and the Kulpmont American Legion Auxiliary Unit 231.


Gloria was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and her dogs. She also enjoyed decorating for the holidays especially Christmas; many friends, neighbors and other local residents admired her talent and work.


Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her daughter, Sueanne Miller; brother, George L. Stankiewicz, Sr. and his wife Agnes; and nephew, George L. Stankiewicz, Jr.


Surviving are her son, Michael A. Susnoski of Kulpmont; grandson, Matthew Miller; granddaughter, Chelsea Lopez; three great-granddaughters, Paige Elliott, Aurora Miller and Mariana Lopez; niece, Maryann Remash of Atlas; and great-nephews.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at Holy Angels Church, 855 Scott Street, Kulpmont with the Rev. Andrew J. Stahmer, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or at cancer.org. Joseph J. Stutz Inc., Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor has been entrusted with the arrangements.
