James R. Callahan

ATLAS — James R. Callahan, 74, of 220 E. Columbia Ave., passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

He was born in Philadelphia, June 26, 1942, a son of the late Joseph and Irene (Kubick) Callahan.

He was a graduate of the former Catholic High School in Mount Carmel.

He was married March 6, 1971, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church to Christine (Dando) Callahan, who survives.

James worked at Kennedy Van Saun Corp. in Danville and later was employed as a quality control technician at the Kraft manufacturing plant in Mount Carmel Township where he retired
.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
James was an avid walker. He also enjoyed traveling and his many trips to area casinos.

He was a very loving husband and father.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kelly Christin Callahan; a brother, Joseph Callahan and his wife, Sharon; a sister-in-law, Sue Rynkiewicz; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Worgen and her husband, Chip, Deb Kanowica and her husband, Russ, Alexia Bozza, Rick Rynkiewicz and his wife, Laurie, and Bernadine "Bella" Deeter and her husband, Scott; and great nieces and nephews, Cory, Chad and Eric Worgen, Danielle Koutch, Tyler and Dylan Rynkiewicz, and Zack and Maura Deeter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann O'Neil; and a brother, John Callahan.

CALLAHAN — James R. Callahan, 74, of 220 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as celebrant. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. There will be no visitation. Everyone is invited to attend the Mass. Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 47 S. Market St., Mount Carmel 17851.
