Launa Ann Klimowicz, 63, of 269 Halladay Dr., West Suffield, Connecticut passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA with her husband by her side.
Born on January 16, 1963, in Wilburton, PA, she was the daughter of Lorraine A. (Billet) Klimowicz who survives and the late Leonard J. Klimowicz.
She was a 1981 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School, Coal Township, PA.
Launa retired with the rank of Sergeant Major from the United States Army; she was highly decorated, to include the Legion of Merit, and served her country for twenty-eight years (Title 10 U.S. Army National Guard). She was a veteran of the Global War on Terror and culminated her service as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for National Guard Affairs to the Commander, Third U.S. Army/Army Central Command, Kuwait. In this role she further assisted with the development of the Non-Commissioned Officer Corps and the role for women serving in the Armies of Jordan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. Launa was also an active Real Estate Agent primarily focused on helping military service members in the National Capital Region and an active real estate investor with Air BnB’s in multiple states.
On February 23, 2000, in Las Vegas, NV she married Douglas E. Brown who survives.
Launa also served as past president of the Spouses Club, Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA (2 years), past president of the Army Engineers Spouses Club, Alexandria, VA (3 years), and past president of the Army Spouse’s Club of the Greater Washington Area, Fort Myer, VA (1 year). She is a current member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2110, Mount Carmel, PA and also a current member of the American Legion, Post# 608, Wilburton No. 2, PA.
Preceding her in death in addition to her father was her brother, Lance C. Klimowicz.
Surviving are her mother Lorraine A. Klimowicz and her husband of twenty-six years, Col. Douglas E. Brown, U.S. Army, Retired from Winston-Salem, NC, currently of West Suffield, CT.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Very Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, PA, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor.
