Lorraine C. McGinley, 92 formerly of Ashland passed early Saturday morning, October 17, 2026 at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in Ashland on February 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Anna (Rosti) Colahan.

She was a 1952 graduate of the former Butler Township High School.

Lorraine was employed as a secretary at the PA State Capitol, Office of Funeral Directors and the PA House of Representatives; she also served as the Schuylkill County Judge of Elections for several years. She completed assessments and held a leadership position during the 1990 and 2000 United States Census.

On May 30, 1959, in the former St. Joseph's Church, Ashland, she married Thomas Anthony "Shomsey" McGinley who preceded her in death on November 3, 2022.

Lorraine was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland. She was an active member of the former Cardinal Brennan High School Mother’s Guild from 1974 until 1993. She was also a long-time member of the Friends of St. Joseph and was a weekly collection counter for the former Saint Joseph’s Church, Ashland. She also prepared many meals for the priests when they gathered in Ashland for meetings.

Lorraine found great joy in gardening and especially loved tending to her backyard garden flowers. She was a talented seamstress who found joy in sewing and took great pride in her work. She was also an excellent cook, delighting her family with the many dishes she lovingly prepared which she affectionately said always, “got good”. Lorraine loved having “a crowd” at the house filling the kitchen with stories and laughter. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and was deeply devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, who were a constant source of love, happiness, and pride in her life.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas A. McGinley on February 27, 2022 and her brother, Edward W. Colahan on April 21, 1993.
