Margaret Ann Delaney

Margaret Ann Delaney, affectionately known as Peggie, 78 of 540 West Seventh Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her family.

Born at the former Shamokin State Hospital on April 4, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Mary E. (Ayres) Kolody.

She was a 1965 graduate of Mount Carmel High School and attended Bloomsburg State College at that time.

On September 25, 1971 in SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mount Carmel, she married Jerry P. Delaney, Sr. who survives.

Earlier in life, Peggie was employed as a secretary for the Mount Carmel School District. After getting married and starting a family, she stayed at home to raise her sons, occasionally doing family and friends hair at her mom’s beauty salon to keep busy. As they got older, she returned to the workforce, first at the former ACME Supermarket and later as a secretary at the Mount Carmel Nursing Home until her retirement.

Peggie enjoyed going shopping with her family and friends and was particularly fond of QVC. She also enjoyed visiting the casinos in Atlantic City with her husband. More than anything else, her family was of most importance to her, especially her grandchildren. She was extremely interested in all activities and events that involved her grandchildren and loved watching them when their games were broadcast on TV. She was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments and achievements.

Surviving in addition to her husband of fifty-four years are her two sons, Jerry Delaney Jr. and his wife Jessica of Den-Mar Gardens and Doug Delaney and his wife Mary of Cape May, NJ; five grandchildren, Jagr and Jaylen Delaney and Morgan, Anna and Beth Delaney; one brother, Harry Kolody and his wife Lori of Mount Carmel; sister-in-law, Marian Delaney of Hershey; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her best buddy, her dog Riley.

Religious services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 11:00 am at Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. Rev. Paul Spotts will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.
