Margaret A. “Peg” Lewullis, 87 of 3524 Aristes Highway, Aristes passed away early Friday morning, October 6, 2023 in Aristes.
Born on September 27, 1936 at the former Ashland State Hospital, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Gahres) Sebastian.
She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
In 1955 she married Vincent Allen Hoffman who preceded her in death in 1963. On August 24, 1968 at Zion’s Reformed UCC in Ashland, she married William C. Lewullis who survives.
Peg’s greatest achievement was her family and she deeply cared for them providing a loving home. At one time, she was employed at Tri-State Envelope, Ashland.
She was a devout and dedicated member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Aristes; she was very active in church functions and served as the secretary of the church board and was also a liturgist. She was also a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 21-4, Reading and was a past Flotilla Commander. She was also a former treasurer of the North Schuylkill Wrestling Booster Club during her children’s high school years.
Peg was an excellent cook and baker. She was well known locally for her cake decorating talents, she decorated many birthday, anniversary and wedding cakes for area residents. She also enjoyed flower gardening.
Above all else was her family, they were her pride and joy. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Peg was truly loved by many.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and first husband were her son, Mark Hoffman; her daughter, Vera Bucher and sisters, Bernice Stanton and Annetta Devine.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 55 years, William C. “Bill” Lewullis are her daughters, Kathy Lewullis-Petrus and her husband, Thomas of Mountain Top and Karen Lewullis-Slotterback and her husband, Jack of Mount Carmel; sons, John Hoffman and his wife, Margaret of Mount Carmel, Vincent Hoffman of Tennessee, William Lewullis Jr. and his wife, Bridgett of York, and Christopher Lewullis of Tennessee; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Armstrong of Smyrna, DE, Mary Hanna of Bradenton, FL, and Judy Sadusky of Mount Carmel; numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Religious services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Zion United Methodist Church, Aristes with Rose M. Marquardt, Pastor officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, PO Box 183, Aristes, PA 17920. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, Joseph J.
