In Loving Memory of Nicholas Kent

Nicholas Kent, 92, of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. Born on April 14, 1934, in Centralia, Pennsylvania, he lived a full and meaningful life devoted to his family, his faith, and helping others.

Nicholas proudly served in the United States Army, where he worked as a draftsman in the Civil Engineering Corps, attaining the rank of Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge. His dedication to his faith and education also led him to study theology at the Vatican in Rome, Italy.

Throughout his life, Nicholas held several positions, including working as a cable lineman for the family cable company and as floor manager at the family textile factory. He was a hardworking man who took pride in his work and was always willing to share his knowledge and skills with others.

Known for his outgoing and gregarious personality, Nicholas had a natural ability to strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He was friendly, approachable, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Known as the local handyman, he was the person people could count on for help with household repairs and maintenance. His generosity and willingness to help others were among the qualities that made him so special.

Nicholas especially enjoyed his golden years living at the horse ranch, where he found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He treasured spending time with his great-grandchildren and enjoyed being outdoors with his beloved dog, Polar Bear, affectionately known as "Fatso." These moments brought him tremendous joy and provided lasting memories for his family.

A true-blue Penn State fan, Nicholas was also an ardent follower of Southern Columbia football for more than 40 years. He particularly enjoyed the Penn State–Ohio State rivalry and the excitement of watching his favorite team compete. His enthusiasm for football was a lifelong passion that he enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

He also cherished the annual fishing trips to Canada with his extended family, creating treasured memories that will live on for generations. His Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Williamsport.

Nicholas was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Sally J. Kent, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship.

He is survived by his daughter, R. Nicole Kent Farr, and her husband, Thomas Farr; his son, Nicholas E. Kent; four grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Brooke, and Ethan; five great-grandchildren, Colton, Jaxxon, Maverick, Walker, and Brynlee; one sister, Helen Whyne of Harrisburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sisters Mildred Potochney and Ann Machonis; seven brothers, George Krynitsky, Stephen Kent, Joseph Krynitsky, Michael Zublick, Charles Kent, John Kent and Peter Krynitsky.

Nicholas will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious personality, unwavering faith, and generosity toward others. Whether striking up a conversation with a stranger, helping a neighbor with a home repair, enjoying a fishing trip with family, cheering on his favorite football teams, or spending time at the ranch with his great-grandchildren and Polar Bear, he found joy in the people and activities he loved.

His life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship, faith, and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy of love and countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.

Divine Liturgy will be held Monday, October 5, 2026 at 11:00 am at SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mt. Carmel with the Rev. Paul Spotts, Pastor officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held on Monday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to your favorite charity.
