Stanley J. "Buddy" Chesney

Stanley J. “Buddy” Chesney, 92, a resident of the Mount Carmel Senior Living Center and formerly of Strong, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at the living center.

Born at the former Ashland State Hospital on July 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Stanley and Virginia (Gillespie) Chesney.

He was a decorated United States Army Veteran having served his country from 1954 until 1958.

Buddy was a graduate of the former Mt. Carmel Township High School. He then went on to college and graduated from law school.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a lawyer in New York City for many years.

Buddy was a devoted son and grandson. He took loving care of his grandparents and parents in the later years of their lives.

He was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Buddy enjoyed volunteering his time helping many parishes throughout the area, making pierogies and helping in anyway he could.

Surviving are his caregiver, Peter Yarnell and his wife Andrea of Strong; and numerous cousins.

Religious services will be held on Saturday May 2, 2026 at 10:00 am with Very Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor officiating at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. A viewing will be held Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be private in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap.
