Sylvia Shingle Otto

Sylvia Shingle Otto, 97 formerly of Bradford and Elysburg passed away on Saturday morning, November 5, 2022 at TerraBella in Hendersonville, North Carolina.


Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on September 20, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John (Ciungar) Shingle and the late Anna (Henita) Shingle.


She was a graduate of Martins Ferry High School.


On March 3, 1945, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, she married William Boyd Otto who preceded her in death on March 2, 2014 just one day short of their 69th wedding anniversary. She and her husband resided in Bradford for thirty-one years; upon his retirement, they moved to Elysburg to be closer to their beloved grandchildren.


Sylvia was a member of the Elysburg Presbyterian Church.


In addition to her parents and her husband, Sylvia was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.


Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Otto Mychak and her husband Michael of Pittsburgh, and Susan Otto Muzzey and her husband Michael of Imperial, Missouri; grandchildren, Adam Mychak, DMD of Pittsburgh, Ashley Mychak, DPM and her partner Chase Frost of Waterville, Maine, Nathan Mychak, PA-C and his wife Heather of Dillsburg, and Colin Mychak, DO and his partner Theresa Picarella of Fletcher, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, William and Raylee Mychak and Michael and James Mychak; her live-in grandsons, Victor Northern of Frankfort, Kentucky and Michael Pasco of Inman, South Carolina; many nieces and nephews.


Funeral services and interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, Elysburg will be private at the convenience of her family.
