Thomas M. “Tom” Koch, known to many as “Cokie” and “T.C.”, 71 of 400 South Market Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 at his residence.

Born on March 7, 1952 at Geisinger Hospital, Danville he was a son of the late John R. and Mary L. (Kogut) Koch.

He attended and graduated from Mount Carmel Area Schools in 1970.  After high school, he attended the York Academy of Art in York.

In 1976, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (Strategic Air Command) as a Medical Material Specialist and also as a Graphic’s Specialist and was honorably discharged in December 1983 with the rank of Sergeant.

After his military separation, he returned to the Mount Carmel Area and his beloved Coal Region of which he was proud.

Tom worked for numerous businesses and companies as a professional painter and artist and was self-employed for the last thirty years and ran his own body shop for six years.

Tom will probably be best remembered for his painting and artistic abilities and his motivating, understanding and generous character.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were an older brother and stepbrother.

He is survived by the “Joy of his life” and “Best daughter a dad could have”, Allora D. Koch.  He is also survived by his best friend, companion, caregiver and often advisor, Melanie Williams who he credited for being responsible and for helping him in his later years.  Tom also leaves behind a few true friends and many acquaintances and will be remembered and missed by most.

Services will be private with interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery.  Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J.
