William J. “Bumper” Habowski, 71, of 939 Scott Street, Kulpmont passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Danville on November 1, 1954, he was a son of the late Chester and Catherine (Dormer) Habowski.
He was a 1974 Graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
He was a decorated U.S. Navy Veteran. He last served aboard the USS Concord where he received the rank of E-4.
Bumper had been employed at the former Fleetwood Motor Homes in Paxinos and retired from Lowes Distribution Center.
On March 31, 1979 in the First United Methodist Church in Kulpmont, he married the former Annette J. Kurasavage who survives.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kulpmont, Kulpmont Sportsmen’s Association, West End Fire Company, Kulpmont, American Legion Post 231, Kulpmont, West End Athletic Club in Mt. Carmel, and Wilburton Fire Company.
Bumper was an avid gardner and canner. He also enjoyed going to the farmers market.
Surviving in addition to his wife of forty-seven years, Annette J. Habowski are his daughter, Jennifer Forte and her husband Joe Kimsal, Jr. of Mt. Carmel; two grandchildren, Tyler and Madeline Forte, one step granddaughter, Haile Kimsel. Bumper is also survived by his sisters, Linda Lawler and her husband Eddie of Wilburton, Pauline “Cookie” Sulick and her husband Edward of Virginia; brothers, Chet Habowski and his wife Pat of Harrisburg, Peter Bergonia and his wife Jackie of Lewisburg; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, were his sister, Rose Marie Habowski and his brother, John Stanley Habowski.
Religious services will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Kulpmont First United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Nagy, officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Kulpmont First United Methodist Church 1 North 9th St. Kulpmont, Pa. 17834. Joseph J. Stutz Inc., Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor has been entrusted with the arrangements.
