Obituary for Bernie
Bernard S. “Bernie” Malkoski, 93, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and all his deceased family and friends on October 24,2021 with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Mt. Carmel on April 18, 1928, he was a son of the late Bernard A. and Ida F. (Olszewski) Malkoski.
He was a 1946 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. He entered the Army in June of 1946 and was honorably discharged on December 24, 1947. He served in the European Theatre of Operations.
On January 7, 1984 he married the former Tanya “Tammy” Panikarchuck. Together they had a loving and happy marriage for thirty-seven years.
Bernie was a member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Elysburg where he ushered for many years. He was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post #608, the Mt. Carmel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2110 and was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was employed at the former Liberty State Bank in Mt. Carmel for 39 years having retired on January 1, 1989 as C.E.O.
Bernie was a loyal fan of the Mt. Carmel Area Red Tornadoes and a member of the Supper Club. He also was a Philadelphia Eagles fan.
In addition to his wife, Tanya, he is survived one brother, Ray Marks and his wife Alice of Danville; nephew, Michael Joseph and his wife Alicia of Maryland, great great niece and nephew Rebekah and Jonathan Troup who he loved so very much and Joanne and Kent Pheasant who he loved as family and who brought him much joy and happiness. Bernie is also survived by two daughters, three granddaughters and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Joseph and her husband Michael, mother-in-law, Anna Panikarchuck; brothers-in-law, Allen and George Panikarchuck and sister-in-law Nina Burge and her husband Robert.
Bernie was a loving, kind and gentle man who will be missed and loved by his family and friends and all whose life he touched.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Elysburg. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church or a no kill animal shelter of your choice. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
