Obituary for Jerome J Mahoney
Jerome J. Mahoney, 71 of 2 Whitetail Drive, Elysburg passed away on Sunday April 14, 2019 at his home.
Born on February 15, 1948 at the former Ashland State Hospital, he was the son of the late Jerome J. Mahoney, Sr. and Mary (Gerrity) Mahoney.
Jerome was a 1966 graduate of the former Catholic High School in Mt. Carmel.
He served as a Staff Sergeant with the Strategic Air Command in the United States Air Force from 1967 until 1971.
On October 19, 1974, Jerome married the former Eileen R. Girardi who survives. They were married in the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Elysburg.
Jerome worked as an electrician for the railroad prior his retirement.
Jerome was a member of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Elysburg, and was a 4th Degree member of the Elysburg Knights of Columbus Council #14161.
Jerome enjoyed trains, planes and reading and history.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 44 years, Eileen R. Mahoney are one son Michael Peter Mahoney and his wife Jane of Rochester, NY; one granddaughter, Ever Catherine Margaret Mahoney; two sisters, Mary Julia Klimas of Lavelle and Anne Anoia of Aristes; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Teresa Mahoney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 12:00 noon in Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Elysburg. Rev. Joseph Scanlin, Pastor will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A visitation will be held in the church on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of Mass.
